Born in Sydney in 1948, Warwick began painting full time in 1978 and received formal education with Kevin Oxley in 1979. In a career spanning 36 years, he became known as a plein air (outdoor) painter, and achieved recognition with paintings selected for private, corporate and institutional galleries in Australia and overseas.
He has received numerous awards and held over 60 solo exhibitions, including seven in London. He is an occasional judge of regional and other art competitions including for the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Australia. An art advisor and teacher, including Artist in Residence N.S.W. Department of Education, he is also a Fellow of the Royal Art Society of New South Wales and a member of the Sculptors’ Society.
He has produced a range of instructional DVDs, a television documentary, Fuller’s Earth and has published a book, Impressions and Interpretations (2014). Warwick was the Founding President of the Lewer’s Bequest and the Penrith Regional Art Gallery (1979-80).
He was also a member of the Management Committee of the Gallery (1980-1990). Warwick was Official Tour Artist accompanying His Royal Highness Prince Charles on his tour of Australia in 2012, and his paintings are now displayed in His Royal Highness’ collection.
