WAMA introduces an exciting new community event, The Biggest Science Experiment engaging the Northern Grampians shire region in being a science savvy community.

The Biggest Science Experiment (BigSciExp) has been created to get the community thinking, talking and involved in science, the world around us and ourselves.

“We really want to get people thinking about science and how it is involved in our everyday lives” says Anthea Nicholls WAMA Education Lead and BigSciExp project manager.

“Stawell is about to land on the international science map with a number of science based projects happening in our region and we find it important to support these projects in getting the community behind science with The Biggest Science Experiment.”

The BigSciExp involves individuals or groups in doing a science experiment or project including school groups, businesses, organisations and even some of the regions practicing scientist.  The experiment period will run from March to May with an Expo held on May 4th and 5th showcasing the experiments.  Guest speakers will also come and talk about science to school groups and the community with Professor Jeremy Mould from the Stawell Underground Physics Lab opening the Expo event on the Monday night.

WAMA recently received a community grant from the Northern Grampians Shire to help run the BigSciExp event together with the support of the Stawell Underground Physics Lab.
