BENEDICT SIBLEY
With the prospect of bushfires occurring with increasing frequency and severity, I thought of quitting the land; but persevered in the hope that some aspects of the forest and my family history can be conserved. I savour the cool misty winters.
Our return to a more sustainable coexistence with nature will meet many obstacles. A better understanding of complex natural ecosystems, coupled with substantial modifications to societal behaviour is a good start. Art can be an excellent partner with science to communicate knowledge and actions that help to protect our unique environment, and celebrate positive outcomes.
