Most of my latest pastels have been of Australian native flora.
Eucalyptus synandra is a pastel work of the wonderful Western Australian tree that is unfortunately classified as ‘Threatened Flora’ by the Department of Environment and Conservation. For this reason, and the great beauty of this flowering tree, I find it important to create work so that the viewer is aware of this sad fact. The inclusion of a semi abstract element in both these works adds interest and intrigue and will, hopefully, result in conservation awareness.
