JUANITA MCLAUCHLAN

This artwork is about the journey of finding culture through our environment and connection through the land. Our totems guide us to the waterhole, in which is more than just refreshing but a source of knowledge. Without our native animals the land is like an empty vessel, creating a baron waste land, with the absence of native animals we are left with only the tracks scaring the dry earth to a vanishing waterhole.

I’m a Gamilaraay woman living on Wiradjuri country in Wagga Wagga. I enjoy the thrill, complexity, texture, chaos, and control of printmaking medium.
