I am drawn to the unique but often scary structure and composition of the Australian landscape; the resilience of weathered coastal rocks, the light throwing gullies into shadow and the hour of silence as the sun fades behind a solitary tree. I like the idea of organised gesture and geometry in form and choose mixed media to deliberately help create the sense of diversity within the landscape of the Hawkehead Peninsula. Mixed media, acrylic and ink all contribute to creating a work that I want to sit between the real world and a spiritual likeness. I deliberately set out to amplify and animate the shapes, forms, and tones to relieve the viewer of the static repetitiveness of the landscape.
