Thalta and Kirpatya is a piece that aims to emulate zoological scientific art from previous centuries but is presented from the worldview of a Paakantyi person. The piece focusses on two types of kangaroos and proffers knowledge about them as they relate to Paakantyi cultural practice; spirituality; kinship; and conservation. The work seeks to elevate Indigenous knowledges to the level of scientific art from the past to decolonise and indigenise the way we look at the natural environment.
