Honeyeaters and grevilleas go naturally together. As do the complementary colours of orange and blue. I had this in mind when I was planning my composition of the Blue-faced Honeyeaters with their beautiful two toned cobalt blue facial skin (hence their binomial name Entomyzon cyanotis – cyano meaning blue) in a grevillea whose flowers are orange. With that visually appealing colour combination my aim is to draw people to my artwork with the hope that they may then want to know more about that bird and hence engage more with the natural world. If people have a connection, they will be more inclined to care.
