Creating new employment opportunities and boosting the regional Victorian economy through this complementary nature tourism destination.

• 37,500 Visitors expected per year
• 23 Jobs created (13 during the construction phase, 15 once operational)
• Estimated $45 million injected into the local economy over the first 10 years of operation

Tourism

Attracting domestic and international visitors, strengthening the Grampians overall visitor experience by expanding the cultural tourism offerings within the region.

Art

Environmental art is ubiquitous and fundamental to our culture: as a record, for reflection, and to deliver a message through cultural stories.  

There is no other existing national centre for art inspired by the natural environment in Australia.

Native Gardens & Wildlife

The Grampians is one of the richest biodiversity hotspots in Victoria.

WAMA will showcase some of the most rare and endangered flora and fauna species with a focus on preserving and conserving for visitors and researchers alike to engage with.

Culture

Linking nature with art and science by providing experiential learning experiences for all ages that will broaden visitors cultural and environmental awareness.

Infrastructure

Provide the community with a space to hold functions and events within outdoor spaces and within our multi-purpose learning centre.

Spread over two stages, $14 million must be raised through a combination of philanthropy, State Government and Federal Government funding.

Stage One:

$9 million required to deliver a fully functioning, world-class art gallery and cafe with associated facilities and infrastructure open to the public.

 $5 million required to complete extensive landscaping including botanic gardens, native grasslands, an amphitheatre, endangered animal sanctuary, plant nursery, boardwalks and additional parking.
